Forth Bridge Visitors Centre

Network Rail has announced details of a feasibility study which aims to deliver a visitor attraction allowing people to visit the Forth Bridge. Proposals include a visitors centre and viewing platform based in North Queensferry, and a smaller base in South Queensferry to co-ordinate guided walks to the top of the bridge.

Crucial phase of construction work completed on new bridge structure
The world’s largest continuous underwater concrete pour has been achieved as foundation work for the huge 210 metre high Queensferry Crossing towers progresses.
With work already completed on huge concrete plugs on which the foundations of the north and centre towers, the finishing touches have now been completed on the south tower plug.

Young Scottish band Bwani Junction are excited to be involved in an iconic event on their doorstep in North and South Queensferry next year.
The Forth Bridges Festival 2014 will be a 10 day programme of events (4-13 September) in honour of the Forth Road Bridge’s 50th birthday and will be a signature event in the Year of Homecoming Scotland 2014.
Capture a Scottish Icon - Forth Bridge World Heritage Photo Competition

Members of the public and particularly those who live close to the bridge are being invited to take part in a competition to capture the railway bridge in all its glory.
The competition will run from 10th August to 30th September 2013. All entries must be digital images and full details of how to enter can be found at www.forthbridgeworldheritage.com. The top prize includes a visit hosted by Network Rail to the Forth Bridge, which is not normally accessible to the public.

The public’s views on the World Heritage nomination of the Forth Bridge is being sought through a 12-week consultation launched today.
The Forth Bridges Forum – which includes a number of local and national organisations – is keen to gather input from individuals and interested parties in support of the iconic railway bridge’s nomination. It also wants to hear people’s views on how the potential social, economic and cultural benefits of World Heritage can be managed in the local and national interest.
